Playfulness and Emotional Growth
The Power of Play for Adults and Children
✔️ Play helps you manage stress, release steam, and cope with mental health challenges.
✔️ Playful people tend to have higher emotional intelligence, which can improve relationships and overall well-being.
✔️ Play is scientifically proven to keep our brains flexible, fight off depression, and boost optimism.
✔️ In fact, research by Cadwallader & colleagues (2023) suggests that creating environments where play is encouraged — whether it's in a classroom, at work, or home — leads to greater fun, enjoyment, and a positive impact on learning and stress management.

✅ Spend time with children and friends! They’re masters at being playful, and you can learn a lot by observing their creativity and energy
What’s your play personality?
Take the quiz and find out what kind of playful spirit you have! My personal play personality is Storytelling — which makes sense because I’m passionate about using storytelling (through poetry, journaling, and books) to support emotional regulation and well-being. 📖✨
People who embrace storytelling often transform ordinary situations into captivating narratives, drawing others in with their creative perspectives. And guess what? This kind of play isn’t just fun — it can also boost emotional intelligence and help you navigate life’s challenges more effectively.

I took the quiz! It was on the money with my play personality being storytelling. This is accurate since one of my passions is writing through storytelling for children and adults in different ways (poetry, journaling, books) discussing strategies to support emotional regulation and well-being.
The storyteller play type revels in telling and listening to stories. They are both authors and readers, but more so – they are people who weave stories throughout their life.
People who play through storytelling are the folks who can see an ordinary situation and transform it into a fascinating narrative- often captivating others as they tell their version of events.
I incorporate this into my community programs that allow space for clients and participants the opportunity to share and tell their stories in creative ways
