Success Stories

The following case studies are based on real client experiences, however to preserve privacy, all identifying information has been changed.

Ellie | Age 5

A woman and a young girl smiling at each other. The girl is wearing large headphones and holding a red pen. They are in a classroom setting with colorful exercise balls in the background.

Challenge

Ellie’s parents came to me when she was having a hard time with her focus and impulsive behaviors due to her ADHD. Ellie was approaching kindergarten, and her parents wanted her to have the tools to self-regulate.

Solution

Sensory Alignment Protocol - this service uses sensory processing with sound, partner yoga, and mindfulness to regulate the nervous system. The Unyte Safe and Sound Protocol is implemented in the session.

Results

After a few sessions, Ellie was visibly calmer and more focused on individual tasks. Ellie’s carers left the sessions with tools to help themselves and Ellie regulate the nervous system so that they felt more in control when engaged with Ellie during various situations and community events. This allowed for more positive interactions, which threatened family bonds.

J.B | Age 10

Challenge

J.B.’s parents reached out to me as they noticed he was struggling with feeling overwhelmed while around others and was experiencing social anxiety, which led to more social isolation and playing video games at home. After J.B.’s evaluation, we determined he specifically struggled with sensory overload.

Solution

One weekly individual session for 45 - 60 minutes with the incorporation of movement activities. Our goal was to increase communication and participation with others. Another goal was to improve executive function skills and gross motor coordination.

Results

After a few weekly sessions, J.B. shows a decrease in tactile aversions to various textures while engaging in sports and different activities. He also initiates eye contact with objects and the therapist while communicating and engaging in activities with minimal prompts (carryover of words and learned calming techniques during previous sessions at home). According to his career, J.B. is demonstrating the carryover of learned nervous system regulation techniques during his sessions and at home.

Chris| Age 21

Person practicing yoga indoors sitting cross-legged on a mat, with a laptop nearby, surrounded by plants and a candle.

Challenge

Chris’ parents reached out after being excluded from community events and programs due to sensory overload. He was exhibiting angry outbursts and behaviors that frightened the other participants.

Partner yoga, myofascial release techniques, and sound. Different forms of movement, small and large, provided input that helped him feel more organized, calm, and focused.

Results

After two sessions, Chris was able to carry over learned calming techniques himself, follow simple directions with minimal prompting, and complete movements and activities presented. I gave Chris’ aide exercises to follow through with at home and in the community to help prevent sensory overload. He exhibits smoother transitions to our sessions, more focus, and increased participation in our sessions. He is expressing his likes and dislikes with less prompting.
